How It All Began - Part 4

In my last blog, I wrote that I took a position at a newspaper; but it wasn't as a news photographer. I was in sales as an advertising rep.
Being on the shy side, it was difficult for me in many ways but I held the position for about two years. I was able to use my photography skills for some of the advertisers who wanted special photos instead of artwork for their ads.
Upon leaving the newspaper position, an opening for an assistant teacher position opened up in a local Christian school. Teaching art was also part of the position. Being close to home and willing to try something different, I was accepted for the position. I stayed for four years leaving only to pursue a bachelor's degree in Exercise Physiology. I have very fond memories of the years at that school.
Attending classes and working part-time, it took me six years to complete my degree, graduating cum laude.
For the next twenty years I had the good fortune to have both clinical and health/fitness positions. In the hospital settings, most of my experience was in cardiology doing cardiac rehab, stress testing and ultrasound. In the health and fitness realm, I worked for the YMCA and worked with all age groups in a variety of capacities, which I really enjoyed. I did hold a position as a physical therapy assistant, thinking of returning to school for my master's degree, but that plan never materialized. It was a very unusual circumstance that changed the course of my intended pursuits and which I will write about in my next blog.
