Let Your Art Speak

Each of us has a history: good, bad, not so bad, not so good, it is a part of us. And each of us is an individual making that history uniquely ours.

We are all given a personality, unlike anyone else. There may be some similarities but I think you'd be hard pressed to find someone with exactly the same personality traits as yourself.

Each of us grew up in a family; good, great, dysfunctional, whatever the dynamics, they become a part of who we are.

Then there are our experiences. An older sibling in a family (like myself) grew up with a very different vantage point than either of my sisters. Within families, siblings will recount very different perspectives on the same situation. I know in my family, my two sisters generally don't see what I see in a the same incident.

Taking all this into account, my perspective and philosophy on life, art, politics, the world around me will be colored by all these factors as will yours. We each have something to say about how or why or when they have effected us. Some may express it with words, written or spoken; others with music; still others with dance; and then there are those of us who speak through art.

Any one of these forms of expression can profoundly impact its listeners or viewers. They can all leave indelible footprints on the blueprint of one's soul. They can transport you emotionally to a place in time where you've never been. They can bring you back to places you've either loved or hated. They can subtly invade your mind, your thoughts, transforming them in the process. Powerful stuff.

No matter where you've been, you have something to say. Let your art enable you to speak .
