At the time Peony's Party was photographed, I was tossing around ideas for the 'Beauty Fading' series in addition to an up-coming exhibit. As the petals fell from the peony I had in a vase on my pie safe, the idea of a celebration came to mind, the petals resembling confetti. The flower bloom itself was beginning to lose it's once lush form. But now it took on a different form, still full yet more open. I decided to set up the petals around the base of the flower to appear as though, like confetti, they had fallen randomly. After a several takes and just under two hours, I had my party.
